There have been times in my life when I really was lost. Times when I felt like I needed a guardian. I felt I needed someone to watch over me and tell me it was going to all be ok. The pain in many aspects of my life left me feeling alone and unsafe and chaotic. I needed to change directions. I chose photography to do this. When I started photography it was an attempt to not feel alone, it was an attempt to remember what living felt like instead of cowering in a corner needing to be rescued.

With my camera I found places I felt safe in. Despite the wildness of the locations and the utter lack of other humans in many isolated places I felt safe. I felt a homecoming and a reconnection with myself. The towering cliffs, the majestic mountains, the gurgling rivers, the quiet lakes, they all looked over me. They all held me in an embrace that was deeper and safer than any fear I had. The grief slipped away from me in gentle waves leaving me smiling.

This rock was one of those guardians I found that took me into sacred, internal places that healed and fortified me. Being here was a gift that I share with you now.
