“One Silence in the Morning Light” is about the quiet that you experience when alone, when your mind settles and the world makes sense once again. The quiet of a fall morning is a singular type of quiet. The world is cold in the morning which means only the brave and the wild ones are awake for sunrise.

I was alone out here and didn't expect to be. This aloneness is something that heals me from the chaos of the world and I was glad for it. The morning was so quiet and so peaceful that the birds didn't even seem bothered by me. Several of them flew so close to me that I could feel the stir in the air from their wings on my face.

The first light on the aspens covering the mountain was more beauty than I felt I should be privileged to experience. The sensation that I alone saw this light helps me to feel like I have really lived that day. I think life is short and many people don’t get to really live. This image is about living, about stepping into the wildness of Colorado, stepping away from the world of cell phones and emails to experience that one singular silence.
