“Desert Fabric” is an intimate look at the beauty of sandstone, the intricate striations in burnt orange hues, mirrored delicately in a serene pool of cool water nestled within a natural depression in the stone. This abstract invites one to settle into the colors and shapes without a distinct, recognizable landscape that allows the viewer to form a personal connection to the work, interpreting it through their own experiences, memories, and emotions, fostering a sense of deep connection.

I spent time with the most small of details in this place because too often we don’t see the trees for the forest. For me this piece is about being present and seeing that the beauty of life really lies in the fine details of our daily lives. If we take the time to be grateful for all experiences we find our hearts full of grace. We see the beauty in the delicate colors of our mother’s clothing, the kind works of our father, the acceptance and stalwart support from brother’s and friends that are like sisters; the smile of our dog in the morning and the quiet purr of the cat in your lap in the evening; the sunlight on the first spring flowers. This and all the other facets of our lives is where we find happiness that sustains us.
